Specialized Information Retrieval: Information Technology SRO5050
The course provides an introduction to library and research skills,
including an understanding of how information is organized by libraries; how to create a strategy for finding information; how to use print and electronic sources to locate information; and how to evaluate and cite information found.
The course is divided into four modules
The course contains four homeworks and and the final report.

The search strategy: Boolean search model, Boolean query model, proximity searching, truncation etc.
Module 2
Searching for library catalogues and databases. Preparation of a work-cited list for print and electronic resources.
Module 3
Introduction to database searching. Electronic information sources available in TTU network 1. Bibliographic and full-text e-journals databases.
Module 4
Electronic information sources available in TTU network 2. Full text
e-journals databases and e-books databases. Scientific information in the Internet. Search engines. Web directories. Evaluating the information critically.
